Judith Kilbourne – Independent Minister, Care Provider for the Elderly
Reverend Kilbourne knows firsthand the wonderful care and service that the Mental Health Center of Denver provides. As the mother of a son with a mental illness, Kilbourne has always ensured her son receives the best care possible.
Kilbourne relishes the opportunity to serve on the MHCD board of directors; and, as a board member, recognizes how critical it is that anyone with a mental illness – regardless of income or education level - has equal access to quality mental health care.
She views her participation on the board as a vehicle to elevate the role that MHCD and other service providers play in recovery for the mentally ill. Her vision is to establish the Mental Health Center of Denver as a leader in the mental health field, not just in Colorado, but in the United States.
Kilbourne also believes that by volunteering her time in the mental health field, she can dispel the myth that the mentally ill are not treatable, and that they can live productive lives if given access to treatment and recovery.
A volunteer for numerous non-profit organizations throughout her adult life, Kilbourne has over 12 years experience in fundraising and volunteer coordination. She is an ordained minister in the Religious Science Church and has owned three businesses. Chair of the Development Committee, Kilbourne has served on the MHCD board since 2001.
