Edie Sonn, Founder and Principal of Strategic Policy Communications, LLC

Ms. Sonn has worked in public relations, policy development and communications strategy for 17 years. She served as chief of staff to Lieutenant Governor candidate Barbara O'Brien during the successful 2006 Ritter-O'Brien campaign. In 2004, Sonn worked on Amendment 35, an initiative to raise cigarette taxes to pay for health programs. Her efforts as communications director, planning and implementing media and community relations, resulted in the successful passage of this amendment.

Sonn is the secretary for the Mental Health Center of Denver's board of directors. She is a former board member of the Women's Bean Project and continues volunteering for that program. Sonn serves on the Health Care Committee for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and on the Marketing and PR Advisory Committee for Jewish Family Service of Colorado. Sonn is also a mentor for The Colorado College's Public Interest Fellowship Program.

Sonn received a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in history and political science from The Colorado College and a master's degree in public policy, with an emphasis in health policy, from Duke University . She is married to Bill Sonn and is a proud grandmother of two step-grandchildren. Her hobbies include gardening, running, reading and working endless hours to keep her clients happy.

Sonn has served on the MHCD board since February, 2006.
