Assessment Process

Assessment at the The Center for Integrated Psychological Services at MHCD includes the following steps

Referral: An interested individual can contact CIPS to begin the process, or the individual can be referred by a health care professional. This step includes discussion and review of
- the referral question,
- the overall goals of the assessment,
- the assessment process, and
- a review of insurance coverage, if applicable.
Initial meeting:
- comprehensive interview,
- continued discussion of assessment process,
- clarification of referring party’s questions, and
- inquiries into client’s motivation and own curiosities that may be answered through the evaluation.

Collateral file review and collateral interviews:

review of medical records;
review of prior psychological and medical testing (if applicable);
discussions with referring party;

discussions with family members, spouses, significant others (if appropriate)

cannot speak with anyone about your evaluation unless you give us written permission.***

Administration of various tests.
Analysis and interpretation of test data; write-up of report.
Feedback session.
Series of brief interventions, (when and if appropriate).

Although every person requires a different amount of time to complete the assessment process, most instruments have a predictable standard time that is required for that individual instrument. The CIPS staff will do their best to inform you of the potential time that will be required for the testing. Cost for testing will be based upon the time that is required to complete the assessment and will incorporate data analysis, report writing, assessment feedback time, and brief interventions (if applicable.) We do accept insurance, although many insurance plans do not cover specific types of evaluations.
