Denver, Colorado March 1, 2010. The Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD) announced newly elected board officers at its annual meeting on February 24, 2010.
Board Chair Tim Hudner, retired executive of Janus Capital Group. Hudner held a number of positions at Janus including chief operations officer, chief technology officer, and president of Janus Service Company. He has served as a board member since 2006.
Vice Chair Nancy Severson, JD, Manager, Denver Department of Environmental Health. Severson also serves on the Metro-Denver Mental Health Triage Steering Committee and sits on Mayor Hickenlooper’s Greenprint Council. She was appointed to the board of directors by Mayor John Hickenlooper in April 2006.
Secretary Roberta Payne, PhD, retired professor of English at the University of Denver and published author, has served on the Mental Health Center of Denver board since October, 2004.
Treasurer Rick Simms is the owner and founder of Rick Simms, PC, a consulting firm specializing in tax, financial, and business planning.
Outgoing Board Chair Pamela Hovik welcomed newest MCHD board member and mayoral appointee, Lucille Johnson, Director of Health Initiatives at The Center of African-American Health.
One third of the Mental Health Center of Denver’s board members are mayoral appointees. The remaining membership is self-appointed.
The organization also released its 2009 Annual Report to the Community at its annual meeting. The report is available on www.mhcd.org.
The Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD) provides outcomes-based mental health services to the city and county of Denver. A private, non-profit organization, its mission is enriching lives and minds by focusing on strengths and recovery.
MHCD is recognized as a national center of excellence in mental healthcare because of its many innovative approaches to treatment and measuring results. MHCD provides services in 37 locations, has therapists in18 public schools and clinical staff in 3 homeless shelters and 3 youth centers. Last year, the Mental Health Center of Denver served 13,600 adults, children, and families, an increase of18% from the previous year.
