Living and Learning with HIV

MHCD provides mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults and family members living with or affected by HIV/AIDS disease. Individuals residing in the Denver Metropolitan area may qualify for services.

With a goal to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS disease and their loved ones, this program is designed to provide comprehensive, culturally-competent mental health care to address symptoms such as:

  • Suicidal behaviors,
  • Psychosis,
  • Depression,
  • Anxiety,
  • Grief/loss,
  • A dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse.

  • Psychiatric Crisis/Urgent Services
  • Psychiatric evaluation/Medication follow-up
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Case management
  • Psycho-education and supportive groups by special arrangement
  • Community outreach
  • Consultation and education
  • Access to residential and inpatient treatment
  • Access to housing subsidy programs.

Population Served

Children, adolescents and adults who have HIV disease and where HIV disease plays a significant role in the presenting problem are served by this program. Persons impacted by HIV disease including children, parents, friends, partners, caregivers and significant other may also qualify for services.
