Recovery is at the very heart and soul of our work at the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD).
We believe people can, and do, recover from mental illness. We are recognized nationally for our successful, ground-breaking approach to mental health treatment. Here our consumers are involved in shaping their own recovery and given the chance to regain control of their lives. See Robert's story.
Recovery takes on many meanings but for most it means appropriate and compassionate treatment for a mental health problem so that the individual can get back to living a happy and productive life. That's what we provide at MHCD...

Treatment for Mental Illness Works
Speakers talk about lives recovered
In their own words, consumers of MHCD told a room of 280 guests at our Gifts of Hope Breakfast what the Mental Health Center of Denver means to them.
Guests at the breakfast were inspired as well as brought to tears hearing stories from those who once lived lives of darkness and despair due to mental illness and have achieved recovery thanks to treatments received as consumers at the Mental Health Center of Denver.
Recovery Happens was the theme of Gifts of Hope, MHCD’s annual fundraising breakfast, held on Wednesday, October 1st, which emphasizes our mission of enriching lives and minds by focusing on strengths and recovery, as well as our passion and commitment to the people we serve and the work we do. It is an opportunity for those interested in supporting mental health and the vital work done at the Mental Health Center of Denver to get involved by hosting a table and inviting guests.
Thank you to our generous donors
There is a greater need for our services than we have capacity to provide. With the help of our donor’s generosity, the gap between community need and our capacity to provide services is shrinking. Because of you, we have grown from providing services to 6,500 people per year to providing services to 11,500 people per year.
Gifts of Hope raised over $100,000. Thank you to those generous donors whose contributions allow us to increase access to care in the current year and have made pledges to support us for up to five years in the future. In times of economic uncertainty, we are extremely grateful for your all support and humbled by the generosity of our entire community.
Such generosity allows the Mental Health Center of Denver to continue its legacy of delivering mental health treatment that works by creating the types of services and programs that help people recover and get on with their lives.
